Tuesday in Lent III - Penance

To enter into the process of reconciliation is better described as entering a mysterion, a pathway in which God leads us out of suffering and alienation into the experience of the grace of reconciliation. This grace is transforming, and creates the conditions of possibility not only for our forgiving our enemies, but also helping them rediscover their humanity.

Robert J Schreiter, Reconciliation: Mission and Ministry in a Changing Social Order, The Boston Theological Institute Series, vol. 3, 1992. Schreiter is a systematic theologian, he is interested in the relation between faith and culture, the mission of the Church, and factors shaping World Christianity today.

It’s my sixtieth trip around the sun this year. I share some wisdom, some photography, some poetry and prayers for the journey ahead.
