Advent I - Saturday

“Advent: the time to listen for footsteps – you can’t hear footsteps when you’re running yourself.”

Bill McKibben

Advent Exercise:

Today is Saturday - a perfect day to try something new! I want you to “carve” out of your day five minutes to sit, be still, and to listen. Find a comfortable chair. Sit with both feet on the floor. Have your hands in your lap with your palms facing up - open to receive. Take three cleansing breaths. Now be still and listen….

What do did you hear? Noise from down the street? Your dog barking? Your heart beat? Silence? The voice of God?

Whatever you heard is okay because that is where you currently are. No judgement. Simply acceptance of what is. The good news is that there are more days in this season of hope and expectation to improve on this experience.

Devotional Reading - Luke 7

It’s my sixtieth trip around the sun this year. I share some wisdom, some photography, some poetry and prayers for the journey ahead.
