Music from the Buckeye State

One of the blessings of living in Northeast Ohio is the wealth of wonderful music ensembles, orchestras, festivals, talented professional artists and amateurs, and, of course, Severance Hall and the Blossom Music Center. These programs which began in 2013 celebrate the diversity of musical expression to be experienced in the Buckeye State.

Preview Kent/Blossom Music Festival 2017


Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2017, the Kent/Blossom Music Festival is the premiere chamber music experience in Northeast Ohio. Over 2,300 alumni have shared the Blossom experience since 1968 and propelled many into major artistic positions with The Cleveland Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra along with the Emerson, Miami, Borromeo, Ariana, Grancino and Euclid Quartets. Beethoven Choral Fantasy


A spirited performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Opus 80, 1808. The Kent State Orchestra, Soloists, and Chorus is under the direction of Scott McPherson. The pianist is Jerry Wong. Recorded at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, Spring 2017.

Exploring Sound


This program aired in April 2019. The Hudson High School Wind Symphony, under the direction of Bev O'Connor, was invited by the Kent State University School of Music to participate in a joint program with the KSU Wind Ensemble entitled: "Exploring Sound".

Resounding Beauty


Music from the Buckeye State features Nicole Keller, organist, in a program entitled "Resounding Beauty" featuring the music of Buxtehude, Sweelinck, JS Bach, Howells, Mozart, and Phillips. Recorded at the Lindsay-Crosman Chapel on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace University, Berea, Ohio. The program aired in April 2014.

Mozart “Requiem”


Music from the Buckeye State presents the Requiem by W.A. Mozart with the Master Singers, Inc. Chorale and the Chagrin Valley Chorale Union under the direction of JD Goddard. The performance was performed at the historic Shrine Church of Saint Stanislaus, Cleveland, Ohio on April 14, 2013.
